In 2013, a documentary crew will go in search of the Devil...and find him.

// THE SPosterTORY

Julie Terrell, a documentary filmmaker and skeptic has an idea: search for evidence of the Devil and when none is found, prove to the world that the Devil is just a clever fiction created by organized religion; that he's nothing more than a scapegoat for the evil of men.

Setting out with her four member crew, Julie interviews New Hampshire locals at the beach, around town and in Salem, Massachusetts, hometown of the occult and witchcraft in America. While interviewing a pastor, she's given powerful insight—a code that will unlock a pattern of evil exposing what is the evil of men, and what is evil inspired by the Devil.

But they need not look far to find evidence of the Devil, because he has been among them from the beginning as one of the crew, biding his time, making sure the events leading to the documentary's horrific conclusion, is caught on film for the world to see.

// THE METHOD

The beginning of Godless will begin as an actual documentary titled The Devil's in the Details, with credits, an introduction, real interviews with real people and will then slowly transform into a horror movie as the crew (our cast) encounters the very thing they set out to disprove, the Devil himself. This mix of real interviews and a fictional story will give the film a strong sense of reality and reinforce the concept that the events actually happened.

// THE MARKETING PLAN

Before Godless is marketed directly, a website complete with promotional material, images, character bios and detailed information will be created for the documentary, The Devil’s in the Details. In the months leading up to the active marketing of Godless, the main character will post updates, blog entries, photos, videos, tweets, facebook updates, etc, about the production of the movie, interviews and intriguing details, giving the illusion that this is a genuine and very real documentary...until she suddenly falls silent, cuing planted people to publicly wonder what happened.  Was the movie cancelled? Did something happen? Are they missing? Were they hurt? Worse? Basically, a rumor is started that something horrible happened to this documentary film crew who was searching for evidence of the Devil.

Enter Godless, the marketing for which reveals that something did indeed happen to the documentary film crew and that the main character got the footage to a friend, who in turn, sold it for distribution with the hopes that everyone would know what happened and how much danger the public is in. Around this time, the “final” footage of the main character, who has already been established as the lead in the documentary, is leaked, revealing that she has a story to tell, is terrified, and in real danger. At this point, anyone wondering if Godless is for real, will find a very detailed website for the documentary, a time stamped blog history for the main character and lots of internet rumors about The Devil’s in the Details, creating massive interest in a story about the Devil that might, in fact, be real.
